Scientist ─ NGS and Molecular Biology

The position

We are looking for an ambitious, independent, and enthusiastic Scientist with experience in Molecular Biology and/or Next Generation Sequencing to join our team in planning, conducting, and optimizing RNA-based diagnostic experiments.

In this multifaceted role, you will help advance our pipeline of designed diagnostic products, solve technical obstacles, test different concepts in the laboratory, read scientific papers, and generate new ideas in collaboration with our innovative R&D team.

The position will be based at the headquarters in Bratislava, Slovakia located at the modern Comenius University Science Park.

The starting salary is €2,178, and it will be increased to €2,420 after the probation period.

Responsibilities

• Plan, conduct, and optimize next-generation sequencing (NGS) experiments
• Perform molecular biology techniques, including RNA extraction/purification, PCR, qPCR, RNA/small RNA NGS library preparation, RNA quality control (NanoDrop™, Qubit™, Bioanalyzer/Tapestation), gel electrophoresis, etc
• Operate and maintain laboratory & analytical equipment
• Generate new concepts and ideas in collaboration with the team
• Document experimental work, analyze data, and present results
• Prepare written methods and SOPs
• Present research findings in manuscripts, at conferences, and to potential partners
• Stay abreast of recent developments in RNA NGS and their applications in clinical diagnostics

Requirements for the employee

Candidates with education suit the position

• University education (Bachelor’s degree)
• University education (Master’s degree)

Educational Specialization

Education in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Organic Chemistry or a related field.

Language skills

English – Advanced (C1)

Personality requirements and skills

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as part of a multidisciplinary team is essential
• Strong analytical and systematic troubleshooting skills
• The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, diligent, adaptable, and capable of working in a fast-paced, flexible environment while always upholding emphasis on quality.
